Jazz Ensemble Using Music to Stay Anchored

After a semester defined by social distancing and safety protocols, Loras music students and faculty found a way to find some normalicy through playing together. Their love of music has helped keep them anchored through the pandemic.

“This has been such a strange semester and the learning curve steep for all of us,” Glenn Pohland, director of instrumental music, said. “Music keeps me moving forward in spite of everything else that goes on and I could not be more proud to have these students who are so committed to what we are doing.   It is because of our students that we continue to find ways to engage and inspire and I hope you enjoy these pieces.”

One way that the jazz ensemble students have played together was by gathering in the Fieldhouse to perform “Goodbye My Heart.” You can listen to that performance, featuring Brad LaGrange (’24) on alto sax, in the video below.
