Loras Alumna Ellis Jones to Promote “Inner Champions” in LWLA Presentation

Loras alumna Wendy Ellis Jones (’99), PhD, is returning to campus to share how to “Activate Your Inner Champion” on Thursday, September 29 at 6 p.m. on the 3rd floor of the Miller Academic Resource Center. The presentation is sponsored by the Loras Women’s Leadership Alliance (LWLA).

Dr. Ellis Jones will talk about her life, growing up on the South Side of Chicago, and how being conditionally accepted to attend Loras changed her life immensely. As a former student-athlete, she turned her passion for sports and leadership into her life work, launching Champion Activator, LLC, where she helps women activate their inner champion.

“Loras has played a pivotal role in my life and gave me a strong foundation for life after college,” Ellis Jones said. “I am excited to make a return and meet alumni, current students and future Duhawks and share some of my experiences to help others know how to ‘activate their inner champions’.”

While at Loras, Ellis Jones was an All-American Track star and has been inducted into the Hall of Fame. She earned her master’s degree in sports administration and doctorate in ethical leadership. She is currently the director of athletic development at University of Arkansas, Little Rock.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Ellis Jones back to campus,” Cayla Schneider, director of development, said. “Our goal as the Loras Women’s Leadership Alliance is to engage women on the Loras College campus and in alumni communities, connecting or reconnecting them with the College and we believe Wendy will do just that as she walks us through how to ‘activate our inner champions’.”

The LWLA launched in 2017 with its mission to create educational opportunities and sessions for dialogue as they pertain to leadership growth. The Women’s Leadership Alliance is guided by a volunteer board of alumni, faculty, and staff.
