Loras Bestows 318 Degrees at Commencement 2022
Loras College celebrated the accomplishments of 318 graduates at its commencement ceremony in the Rock Bowl Stadium this past Saturday. The College bestowed 277 undergraduate degrees and forty one master’s degrees to mark the end of the academic year.
Alumna Sarah Squiers (’89), a member of the Loras College Board of Regents, addressed the graduates. During her keynote speech, she stressed the importance of seizing the day, living a life with empathy, and having grit. Ultimately, she emphasized the significance of their Loras experiences.
“You are graduating with so much more than a diploma: unforgettable friends, unforgettable memories, and you will continue to craft your story,” she said.
Student Government President Jose Melo (’22) stressed the importance of community on campus and continuing to utilize it moving forward.
“Allowing others to shine while we do the same, giving a hand to those in need, and celebrating our peers as we watch them succeed are all elements that make Loras College a magical place,” he said. “When you are moving alone, you might be able to go faster, but when moving together, you might be able to move farther.”
The day kicked off with a Baccalaureate mass in the morning in the Church of the Nativity, followed by a the Master’s-level hooding ceremony.
