Loras College Announces $500,000 Challenge Gift For Student Aid

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Loras College announced that an anonymous donor has offered a dollar-for-dollar challenge gift of $500,000 to provide financial support for students.

“Loras community members always rise to the occasion,” Brien Nugent (’17), director of annual giving, said. “I do not doubt alumni, family and friends of the College will once again come together and contribute to the extent they are able. A collective effort and gifts of all sizes will help us meet the challenge set by the anonymous donor.”

The challenge gift will match every gift between now and October 31, providing additional financial aid for students of greatest need at the College. In years past, 100 percent of students at Loras College benefited from financial aid.

“Having this additional set of funds and now inviting our alumni and friends to match it will again serve our students short-term and long-term in a way that is unimaginable,” President Jim Collins (’84) said. “On behalf of all Loras, I am grateful to our marvelous benefactors because, without them, it would be even more difficult to navigate the pandemic.”
