The College celebration raises the donor goal to 1,839
DUBUQUE, Iowa – Loras College is set to host its eighth annual day of giving, dubbed Duhawk Day, on March 11. While the event has occurred annually since 2013, this year’s event looks to engage a larger number of participants for the day, which helps bring together the entire Loras community.
For Duhawk Day 2020, the goal has been expanded to 1,839 donors, a number inspired by the College’s founding in 1839.
“Increasing the goal to 1,839 donors has always been the path for Duhawk Day,” Brien Nugent (’17), director of annual giving, said. “The support the past seven years has been phenomenal, and we are excited to watch how Duhawks come together once again to help us make this year the best Duhawk Day yet.”
After continually setting new records the first seven years, the 2019 event saw the Loras community unite efforts with a total of 1,895 donors, 445 more than the goal of 1,450.
As in years’ past, Duhawk Day will bring with it a multitude of events, not only in Dubuque and eastern Iowa, but all over the country. Since 2013 Duhawk Day events have been held in 44 cities across the country, resulting in a total donor count of 10,307.
