Loras College to Host Second Annual Black Excellence Night Feb. 19

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College Black Student Union will play host to the second annual Black Excellence Night at the Academic Wellness Center on Wednesday, February 19. The event will feature Women’s and Men’s Basketball match-ups against Wartburg.

“We want to give our students and their families a well-rounded experience of appreciation and admiration for what they are doing,” Steven Parker, assistant director of inclusion & advocacy, said. “We recognize that minorities in higher education are fewer and farther between and we are lucky to have our student athletes here and succeeding.”

Throughout the evening, student athletes will be recognized for their successes. Their families will also receive special recognition.

Attendees will also be eligible for giveaways and special food options.

The festivities will kick off at 3:30 p.m. in the Athletic Wellness Center.
