The Loras Quartet will perform selections from England and Europe for its spring concert, The Cloth of Gold, on Friday, April 8 at 7:30 p.m. It is a unique opportunity to hear music that has not been heard in a single performance like this the Dubuque area in recent history.
Loras, specializing in the performance of music from the Renaissance and the Baroque. For its premiere recital, the quartet will be presenting “The Cloth of Gold,” named after a famously sumptuous meeting of England and France in 1520. The music dates from around the same period and originates in both England and continental Europe.
The quartet will team will Michael Bagby to perform vocal music at Grace Episcopal Church in Galena, Illinois. The performance will also feature Grace Episcopal’s Erben organ, which was first built in 1838.
The event is free of charge to the public. Masks are required for all attendees.
