Loras Sets New Donation Record on Duhawk Day 2022

Loras College finished its tenth Duhawk Day with a record 2,199 donors, once again surpassing the goal of 1,839 and pushing the total over 2,000 for the second consecutive year. The College’s community of students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and friends joined forces to celebrate on Wednesday, March 9. All gifts received on Duhawk Day enhance the entire student experience for all and current and future Duhawks.

“I am overwhelmed by the support shown by Duhawks this Duhawk Day. What a powerful reminder of what Loras means to so many,” Scott McClure, EdD, vice president for institutional advancement, said. “Having another record year for donor participation is further evidence that we should continue to be bold and set our sights even higher. I am thankful to all students, faculty, alumni, staff, and friends of the College for their integral part in making out tenth annual Duhawk Day a success.”

Duhawk Day 2022 provided the Loras community the opportunity to come together both in-person and digitally in numerous ways throughout the 24-hour day of giving. Friends of the College were able to gather to celebrate together, dress in purple and gold, and share photos and memories on social media. Students on campus also had multiple outlets to show their Loras spirit through contests and giveaways.

To encourage participation for Duhawk Day 2022, donors came forward with Fundraising challenges to maximize the impact of the financial support shown throughout the day. These sponsored challenges help push the donor total to the largest in the event’s ten-year history, and with the help of a $100,000 challenge gift from David Holmberg (’72), nearly $420,000 was raised.

The annual Loras event is scheduled to return for its eleventh year on March 8, 2023.
