Parents the Focus of New Admission Microsite
Loras College launched a new microsite that speaks directly to the parents of prospective students and provides information tailored to their needs. It utilizes a combination of parent testimonials and tools that provide a deeper and personalized look at the Loras experience.
“This microsite is an open door for parents to explore and learn about Loras and the college search process,” Joan Schaefer (‘89), event recruitment coordinator, said. “This parent guide is a tool which can give them an inside look at the affordability of Loras, the outcomes of our students, the ways they can visit the campus, and simply dive deeper into the areas they are most interested in for their child.”
The idea behind the microsite is to offer parents some peace of mind through the college search. This new platform is geared to delivering comprehensive information to every prospective student’s family, no matter their background, and breaks down the key information that matters most to parents. Along those lines, there is a specific path available to families who use Spanish as their primary language.
“Every family story is different, and we want prospective students and their parents to feel secure in their decision and to hear why others before them chose Loras. Making a college investment is a big decision, and we want parents to feel connected. We want them to clearly see why Loras can be a good place for their child to grow,” Schaefer said.
The microsite also pulls together a listing of events, traditions and important deadlines. Whether it’s campus-wide events, home games, an upcoming scholarship deadline or homecoming, these dates showcase the Loras experience and represents how students engage in a safe and responsible way.
One of the unique elements of the site is hearing the Loras experience from parents in their own words. As Loras stresses the commitment to its students, testimonials from those who have experienced it first-hand with their children help to tell a more complete story.
“I think this site captures the parent perspective so well because it all comes straight from the heart. From the testimonials to focus groups, parent feedback was present at every corner,” Neil Bingham (‘17), admission visit coordinator, said. “That’s what makes this such a testament to the Loras community – it’s the voices of the parents that were directly in the shoes of the user just a few years ago; It’s current Duhawks supporting future Duhawks!”
