I traveled around the country looking at different schools, but none of them felt like a home to me. Loras was a little closer to home and felt like a community I could easily grow into. I liked that I could come in and immediately have a group of friends within the men’s soccer program.

As a first-year student, I was pretty shy and didn’t really want to participate in much on campus besides soccer and classes. By participating in different classes and clubs on campus, I met and interacted with people who are completely different from me. Loras really brought me out of my shell and introduced me to a family that I will remember for the rest of my life. Loras gave me opportunities to express myself in my classes while providing a well-rounded education.

Some of my best memories were traveling with the soccer team and playing on a winning and dominant team in our conference. My favorite memory was being able to play in my first NCAA tournament in Minnesota as a freshman.

After graduation, I will be taking a gap year to take an EMT course and shadow some more doctors in my hometown. I hope to use this time to improve my med school application and apply within the next year.
