While at Loras, I was on the Swim and Dive team, The Lorian, LEAF, Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society, TREC trips and study abroad in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

Coming from a Catholic high school, I knew I wanted to attend a Catholic college as well. I first found out about Loras when I had been recruited to be on the swim team. I came for two visits before committing to go here, but I knew I wanted to be here after the first tour, where I met so many amazing people and felt welcomed immediately.

When I first came to Loras, I thought that I would have my entire life planned out by the time I graduated, and I am grateful for how wrong I was. Loras gave me countless opportunities to grow as a person and find mentors and peers that will be by my side forever. I got to have fun every day and form a family with my swim team, leave the country and study abroad, and I even changed my majors, which I never thought I would do as a first-year student. Even though I was wrong about how I predicted my future, Loras gave me the best setting to learn and grow through all of these changes and have endless memories come out of my four years here as a Duhawk.

Every moment with my team has made for the best memories. The people I met through swimming have become lifelong friends. Whether we were having fun at practice and meets or quarantining together over the summer, I’ll never forget the moments we all had together! Outside of swimming, I’ll never forget my time spent in Spain studying abroad, all of the fun we had in my Spanish classes our first year here, and being able to present my International Studies thesis on Femicide to my peers this past semester.

If all goes well, I’ll be moving to Peru in the spring of 2022 to serve as a Peace Corps Volunteer! I’ll be serving as a Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Education Facilitator. In the meantime, I’ll be staying in Dubuque and working as a remote Marketing Specialist at Volt Studios.
