As I was finishing up high school, I knew that I had a desire to attend a small college. Furthermore, coming from a Catholic high school, I desired to research Catholic institutions in the Midwest, and I remember seeing Loras College right away. Thus, I decided to go on a campus visit weeks later, and I will never forget my “a-ha” moment I experienced. I will always remember the moment after I completed the campus tour with my family, standing on the MARC lawn, and thinking to myself, “this is going to be my future home!” After meeting the incredible faculty/staff, current students and visiting the beautiful campus, I just knew that I was going to be a Duhawk. I continually thank God for nudging me in the direction toward Loras College!

Looking back on my past four years as a Duhawk, I can sincerely say that my Loras experience has been everything I imagined and so much more! I knew right away after deciding to go to Loras College that I was about to enter a community so special, so loving, and so beautiful. At first, I could not believe it, because not only was Loras all of what I perceived, but it exceeded all my expectations! I wish everyone could experience being a Duhawk because this Loras community exists not only in Dubuque but around the world is truly a blessing!

I genuinely mean this when I say that deciding my best memories of Loras College is very difficult because every day on this campus is a gift filled with so many great moments! However, some of the memories that come to mind are all of the incredible opportunities I had while studying abroad in Santiago de Compostela, Spain and Italy with my fellow Duhawks! Additionally, getting to go on the Antioch retreats and serving on the retreat team has been some of the most marvelous moments as a Duhawk! Another extraordinary memory of Loras College that I will cherish forever is all the experiences I had while being a member of the Breitbach Catholic Thinkers & Leaders Program! Whether it was the Sunday night dinners, courses with my peers, or the social justice events, being a member of this program has been a gift! Finally, some of the best memories of Loras are the little things: doing homework with friends in the basement of Beckman my first year, Sunday night Masses, going on nightly walks around campus, getting coffee with friends, making beautiful music with Duhawkapella, and living with my best friends in the Peace and Justice House! Overall, coming to Loras College was one of the best decisions I have ever made!

Following graduation, I have the enormous blessing to say that I will be serving with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps in San Jose, California. I will be the assistant campus minister at Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit High School during that year!
