Sunleaf Tabbed as a “Digital Leader to Follow”

Dr. Art Sunleaf, vice president of student development & dean of students, was named as one of the top 40 digital leaders to follow by Dr. Josie Ahlquist, a digital media expert focused on higher education.

“Arthur is engaging on every platform, jumping on pop culture sensations from Tiger King to Star Wars,” Dr. Ahlquist wrote of Dr. Sunleaf. “His personhood shines in self-deprecating tweets and the many instances of his family life on screen. This VP is also taking to TikTok – all the time! He gets what it takes to connect with students to build trust overtime.”

This past academic year, Sunleaf unveiled his “Other Dean’s List,” a weekly recognition of student achievements, from success in the classroom to making positive impacts across campus.

The list takes a look at how colleges and universities have engaged with students through the COVID-19 pandemic in a meaningful way.

“In many campus cases, Vice Presidents (VPs), Associate VPs (AVPs), and Deans have been more nimble, more consistently, and authentically engaged than those with the title of President or Chancellor,” Dr. Ahlquist wrote. “It is this authenticity and intentionality that captures my attention when I consider what it means to be a digital leader. I sat up and took note of the campus leaders who were willing to show up in their personhood, to demonstrate the humanity behind their position.”

You can follow Sunleaf on Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn to see how he cheers on and encourages Duhawks year-round.
