Senior Spotlight

Loras has shown me true community, meeting various types of people and building relationships with staff and faculty members. That is something I did not think I would experience on a college campus.

Loras College has provided me with a broad range of classes that have given me an interdisciplinary knowledge base to carry on into the future. A variety of classes that range from children’s discipline to social and biological sciences have given me the discipline to complete the social work program successfully.

I would have never pictured my experience at Loras to be anything like how it is right now, my first year. I’ve grown so much as a person and as a student, and I’ve gotten involved in so many things that I could not have imagined all this when I got here my first year.

I feel that because of my positive experience attending Loras, I have become very optimistic about my opportunities, learned to persevere, and have created a strong work ethic.

The strong friendships that I’ve been fortunate to make will surely remain for the rest of my life. The different backgrounds my peers come from have helped me gain new values and perspectives that I’ll hold dearly.

At first, I could not believe it, because not only was Loras all of what I perceived, but it exceeded all my expectations! I wish everyone could have an experience of being a Duhawk because this Loras community that exists not only in Dubuque, but around the world, is truly a blessing!
